Meet the Author: Betty Brandt Passick

Join award-winning novelist Betty Brandt Passick for a meet and greet at Oakdale Library!

Betty Brandt Passick published The Black Bag of Dr. Wiltse: Murder on the Prairie, the second book in the Gangster Series, in November 2021. The historical crime novel tells the story of a pioneer physician who leaves his beloved Canada in the mid-1850s to establish new roots in a small town in the Midwest. Only his wife Phebe knows of his attraction to murder investigations; his well-oiled black canvas bag simply allows him into places where others may not go. Still, his fellow French Canadians call him guérisseur, healer. Perhaps, the Canadian is running from his own entanglements of the past. The author’s debut novel, Gangster in our Midst: Bookkeeper, Lieutenant, and Sometimes Hitman for Al Capone (2017), won a 2019 Top 100 Notable Indie Book Award from Shelf Unbound book review magazine. Book three in the Gangster Series will be available in summer 2023.
