SLAM! The Art and Craft of Competitive Poetry

Join COMPAS Teaching Artist Danny Solis at Lake Elmo Library as we explore the history of poetry slam from its humble beginning on Chicago's South side to its global presence and international competitive events. Participants will create and perform original work. In addition, we will visit topics such as:

  • What is Poetry Slam?
  • How to write a 'Slam Poem'
  • Why Slam anyway?
  • Why is Poetry Slam so popular?
