Take a whirlwind tour of an art form that has delighted humans for eons — from when people played with shadows and fire to when people play with hi-tech engineering. Award-winning Minneapolis puppetry artists Shari Aronson and Chris Griffith will give you close-ups of the history behind the characters and styles that have spanned centuries and continents. With playfulness and humor, Z Puppets will guide you into a new understanding of how sticks, cloth, string and light come alive in the right hands. Z Puppets Rosenschnoz​ ​delights children and their adults with feats of imagination, mixing hand-crafted puppetry, quirky humor and live music. They are best described as “1/2 Monty Python + 1/2 Sesame Street.” Z Puppets' artists Shari Aronson & Chris Griffith have earned many awards, including from the Jim Henson Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts and Puppeteers of America.  Based in Minneapolis, Z Puppets tour their family-friendly shows across the country. Appearances have included the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, National Puppetry Festival, the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Ordway Flint Hills International Children’s Festival, MN State Fair, Mill City Museum and Boston’s Puppet Showplace Theatre.  For a taste, check out this video.

Registration is required to receive the link to Zoom and attend the program. Registration will remain open up to 1 hour before the program. You will receive a confirmation email indicating you are registered for the program. About 1 hour before the event starts you will receive an email reminder with the Zoom meeting link and password. If for some reason you have trouble accessing the Zoom meeting link or you miss the registration deadline please email splys@ci.stillwater.mn.us.
