All About MN Prairies with Andy Weaver
In the past, prairies covered ⅓ of Minnesota, but less than 1% of Minnesota’s original prairies remain today.
Through Andy Weaver’s storytelling approach, learn about the history and importance of Minnesota’s tallgrass prairies. Program is best for ages 8 and up, including adults. Andy’s presentation style makes it a naturalist class that a variety of ages can enjoy—registration required.

Andy Weaver, a recently retired biology and environmental science teacher from Stillwater Area High School, brings a wealth of experience to the Stillwater and Bayport Public Libraries as our Naturalist-in-Residence. Known for his lively storytelling and interactive teaching style, Andy’s work with live animals, including establishing the “Raptor Propagation Lab,” earned him a nomination for Minnesota Teacher of the Year. Andy hopes that his programs at the library will inspire curiosity in kids, encouraging them to explore the outdoors and develop a love for nature. “Libraries help foster curiosity and are a great place to discover and cultivate new ideas – individually or with other people,” says Andy.
