Sowing Seeds Outdoors in Winter and Spring
Professional photographer and gardener, Michelle Mero Riedel, is excited about sharing her knowledge and experience sowing seeds outdoors in the winter and spring. According to Michelle, "outside gardening doesn't have to stop during the long winter months. Sowing seeds outdoors in the winter is easy, rewarding, and inexpensive." This method of growing seeds uses recyclables to make mini-greenhouses. Because nature controls the germination of winter-sown seeds, plants are hardier than artificially forced indoor plants. Outside sowing is fun, rewarding, and takes a much more leisurely pace than inside sowing.
Michelle Mero Riedel is a 25-year Master Gardener, and a writer and photographer for Northern Gardener magazine. She’s been on KARE-11 many times, and featured in Garden Gate and Northern Gardener magazines. In 2019 the Star Tribune selected Michelle’s gardens as one of six winners in their beautiful gardens contest. When not teaching, she is a professional photographer specializing in weddings, high school seniors and families.
This class is presented in partnership with River Market Community Co-op and the Washington County Master Gardeners.
