Unwrapping Music - Carole King
Seen the Broadway musical? Come learn more about one of America's most prolific songwriters - Carole King! This dynamic composer created music immportalized by Aretha Franklin, Bobby Vee, the Chiffons, The Shirelles, The Monkees, Dusty Springfield, and The Drifters. Then she began her own career as a singer-songwriter with the release of her debut album, Writer, in 1970, followed by the iconic Tapestry a year later. This album shot to number one on the charts and stayed there for 15 weeks. In this class, we will explore the elements of King's songs that make them popular and timeless in American culture.
