Seed Library Grand Opening

Seed Library Grand Opening

Washington County Seed Library Grand Opening with Diane Wilson

The Wildwood Library Seed Library will be a community resource that allows people to “borrow” from a diverse selection of seeds to take home for free. Our seed library will empower the community to develop resilient, locally-based food options and pollinator-friendly habitats.

Program Schedule:

12 to 2 p.m. - Community Seed Swap and Gardening Activities

  • Come together to share seeds at our Seed Swap. Bring well-labeled, locally saved seeds, or excess commercial seeds you’ve bought in original packets (Bulk or individual packets are both acceptable, photos of your plants are welcome).
    • Please NO GMO or patented seeds
    • Seeds should not be older than five years
    • No seeds to swap? No worries! Everyone is welcome to participate.
  • Educational resources and workshops with Washington County Master Gardeners
  • Enjoy art activities with our art cart, make seed bombs, and more!

2 to 3 p.m. - Guest Speaker Diane Wilson, author of “The Seed Keeper”

  • Diane Wilson is an award-winning author, speaker, and editor. Her novel, The Seed Keeper, follows Rosalie Iron Wing as she comes of age and faces multiple challenges to preserve her family's Dakotah way of life. The author will talk about her work and the traditions of seed stewardship.
