What's going on with the water in the Rice Creek Watershed District? Staff from the Rice Creek Watershed District will be at Washington County Library's Wildwood Branch in Mahtomedi on Tuesday, September 26 at 6 p.m. to answer all your questions.

We will look at water quality, particularly the improvement in water clarity over the past five years and the effects zebra mussels have had on it. RCWD will discuss the results of a recent plant survey and talk about the plant communities in White Bear Lake. Additionally, although it falls slightly outside RCWD’s area of expertise and management, we acknowledge the immense public interest surrounding water levels in White Bear Lake. We will provide some insights and information on this topic.

RCWD will also have information about their grant programs that homeowners can utilize to do projects at their homes that improve and protect water quality in the lake. Projects include rain gardens, native plants, shoreline restorations, rain barrels, and more!
